Ruskin House is a hidden gem in Croydon—a historic social club with a reputation for hosting one of the best folk clubs in London. Tonight, they host Steve Tilston, a legend of the British folk scene. Steve is a dazzling guitarist and a songwriter of rare quality, but he is perhaps most famous for being the real-life inspiration for the Al Pacino movie Danny Collins (John Lennon wrote him a letter in 1971 that he didn’t receive for 34 years). Seeing him in the intimate, wood-panelled surroundings of Ruskin House, with a cheap pint in hand, is the perfect way to experience his storytelling and musicianship up close.
