Akram and the Palace for Life Foundation

Local teenager Akram has become a champion of community cohesion through his work as a football coach for the Palace for Life Foundation. Starting as a participant in the “Get Involved” programme, Akram earned his FA coaching qualifications and now leads sessions designed to engage the Asian and Muslim communities in Croydon. His “good deeds” include founding a Sunday night “Mosque League” to foster interaction between different south London mosques through friendly competition. He has also hosted inclusive Iftar events at Selhurst Park, welcoming over 100 residents to break their fast in a communal setting. Additionally, Akram helped lead a volunteer team that raised over £2,000 to support families affected by international floods, proving how local sports networks can drive global humanitarian efforts.
